付帯状況の with とは？with his eyes closed
with + 名詞 + 状態を表す語で「〜したまま」「〜しながら」を表します。状態を表す語には、過去分詞・現在分詞・形容詞・前置詞句が来ます。名詞とその語の関係が「される」なら過去分詞、「する」なら現在分詞です。

名詞と状態を並べる
with のうしろに、名詞とその状態を並べます。
He listened with his eyes closed.
（彼は目を閉じたまま聞いていました）
his eyes と closed のあいだに be を入れると分かります。
his eyes are closed目が閉じられている
これが「〜したまま」の中身です。
「〜と一緒に」の with とは別のはたらきです。
He went with his brother.一緒に

される側か、する側かで分ける
名詞と状態の関係で、過去分詞か現在分詞かが決まります。

目は「閉じられる」側なので closed。
涙は「流れる」側なので running。
迷ったら be を入れてみてください。

どちらの形にすると意味が通るかで決まります。
形容詞と前置詞句も置ける
分詞のほかに、形容詞と前置詞句も置けます。
Do not speak with your mouth full.（形容詞）
（口をいっぱいにしたまま話さないでください）
She stood there with a book in her hand.（前置詞句）
（彼女は本を手に持って立っていました）
どれも「名詞 + その状態」という並びは同じです。

分詞構文との違い
分詞構文も「〜しながら」を表しますが、主語が違います。
Closing his eyes, he listened.（分詞構文）
→ 目を閉じたのは he です。
He listened with his eyes closed.（付帯状況の with）
→ 閉じられているのは his eyes です。
with のうしろには、文の主語と別のものを置けます。
そこが分詞構文との大きな違いです。
She left the room with the light on.
（明かりをつけたまま部屋を出ました）
分詞構文では the light を主語にできません。

よくある間違い
誤He listened with his eyes closing.
正He listened with his eyes closed.
目は閉じられる側なので過去分詞にします。
his eyes are closed（受け身）と言えるかで確かめられます。
his eyes are closing とは言いません。
誤He came in with tears run down his face.
正He came in with tears running down his face.
涙は流れる側なので現在分詞にします。
tears are running（進行形）と言えるかで確かめられます。
原形のままでは置けません。
誤Do not speak with full your mouth.
正Do not speak with your mouth full.
並びは名詞 → 状態です。逆にはできません。
your mouth is full と同じ順に並べます。
誤She left the room with turning the light on.
正She left the room with the light on.
with のうしろは名詞から始めます。
-ing から始めると、名詞と状態の並びになりません。
「明かりがついている」を with the light on と表します。
