避難訓練｜中3の英語長文（約150語）

Our school has held a fire drill twice a year for a long time.

私たちの学校では、長いあいだ年に二度の避難訓練が行われてきました。

Everyone goes out to the ground, except the students who are sick that day.

その日に体調の悪い生徒を除いて、全員が校庭へ出ます。

The stairs are the part we practice most.

いちばん練習するのは階段です。

We are told to hold on to the handrail and walk.

手すりにつかまって歩くように言われます。

The classrooms below ours leave first.

私たちより下の階の教室が先に出ます。

Nobody knows why we practice the order until the day is over.

なぜ順番を練習するのかは、その日が終わるまで分かりません。

Afterwards, a firefighter shows us how to put out a small fire.

そのあと、消防士の方が小さな火の消し方を見せてくれます。

The point is not the fire itself.

大事なのは火そのものではありません。

It is knowing when to run instead.

いつ逃げるほうを選ぶかを知ることです。

We also learn small things, such as where the exits are.

出口の場所など、小さなことも学びます。

In addition, we check that the doors are not locked.

さらに、ドアにかぎがかかっていないかを確かめます。

These take only a few minutes.

これらは数分しかかかりません。

Some students say the drill is boring.

訓練は退屈だと言う生徒もいます。

That may be the best thing about it.

それがいちばんよいところなのかもしれません。
